Artist Networking Gathering 2010
Artist Gathering 4 smOn Thursday, February 25th 2010, thirty-five regional artists gathered at the beautiful home of Ita Bullard on Lake Champlain near Plattsburgh. Braving the winter elements, artists were warmly welcomed by their host Ita, as well as staff from the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts and the Coordinator from the Adirondack Arts in Education Partnership and enjoyed food and drink in a wonderful setting.

J. Danforth smArtists gathered in Ita's spacious and idyllic artist studio surrounded by her paintings. They spent the evening sharing their names, chosen artistic disciplines, exciting projects that they were working on or had just completed, and several visual artists brought samples of their work to show.

The visual arts were well-represented with several photographers, watercolor artists and painters (oil, acrylic etc.) as well as clay artists, mixed media and designers. There were a few artists representing movement, including dance and theatre, as well as musicians and a composer. In addition, there were artists - sometimes called teaching artists - who have been and are currently working with classroom teachers on projects in regional schools.

This was the third Artist Networking Session sponsored by the Adirondack Arts in Education Partnership since 2008. Together with the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, the AAIEP hopes to provide new opportunities for artists to meet and build community as well as to pair artists together with teachers on exciting projects that will bring local artists into schools in Spring 2010.
